Attractions in Folsom California? Yes, we have a lot... Certainly more than what you can do in a single visit.
I’ve been asked the two questions on the title of this article quite often since I’ve moved to Folsom. And I love answering these questions because there are plenty of attractions here! There are so many things to do, especially during the Summer time.
Being a salesperson, my answer was, instinctively, to ask a question back. “What are you looking for?” I would answer.
I wasn’t being a smart aleck. My tone was actually of excitement. Someone seemed genuinely interested in knowing what is there to do in my favorite city.

“Well, my friend, let me tell you just some of the attractions in Folsom…” Jokingly, I said it like Groucho Marx holding my fingers up close to one side of my face as if I had a cigar between my index finger and my thumb (I don’t smoke, but supposedly, this is the proper way to hold a cigar and not between the index finger and middle finger).
I thought I was funny! I laughed at myself, like I always do.
Ask my wife, the Boss. She’ll tell you that I do it all the time.
Well, what are you looking for? There I go again. It’s the salesman in me, I tell ya!
Seriously, though, depending on what time of the year or season, there is always something to do and something going on. Folsom offers a lot of attractions all throughout the year.
Attractions in Folsom... Hmm! Where do I begin?
We have a combination or historical and modern attractions, as well as many indoor and outdoorsy attractions.
The summer time, without a doubt, is when most of the events happen. So, let me... Break it down! Huh!!! HEEYYYYY!!
I’m not sure how to write that sentence above to express it as if I was singing it like The Godfather of Soul, James Brown. Anyhow, let me break it down for you...

Outdoor Activities… Are you an outdoorsy person?
If you are, then, my friend, you are in for a treat, because you won’t get bored during the summer months!
We have over 40 miles of trails here. Actually closer to 95 scenic miles that includes a trail that will take you all the way to downtown Sacramento.

Kayaking, Paddle Boarding, Fishing, Boat riding, swimming - it’s all here. The Steve Miklos Aquatic Center in Lembi Park comes alive as well. They’ll have swimming competitions, lessons and other events there all summer long.
Folsom Rodeo, also comes to town. It’s always fun, but I love the ending the best. I love fireworks. It just screams “CELEBRATION” to me and the rodeo always ends with their best fireworks.
They have the cattle drive as well, though they may discontinue this. Last year they did not have one due to extreme heat and they did not want to endanger these animals. I see them doing this once in a while, but not every summer. We do get a good two weeks worth of heat wave her during the summer.
Then we have other events and places to visit around Folsom as well. We have the...
Attractions in Folsom California slows down the rest of the year. There are still a lot of events but most happen indoors.
During the Fall and Winter seasons, we have the 2 theaters - the Harris Center for the Arts, home of the Three Stages Theater and Sutter Street Theater (Plus the Cinemas, of course), the Haunted house and the Annual 5k, 10k run along with Santa Fun Run (All are typically held around the last day of Fall).
During Christmas, there is the Christmas Tree lighting and the Skating Rink and other indoor activities, but they’re more in the sports complexes, gyms and classrooms.
Do you like the snow and snow activities? Heck, Lake Tahoe and the many ski resorts there is only about an hour and a half to 2 hours west on Hwy 50 or Hwy 80.
The Springtime brings back the sports. There are sports leagues for all ages - soccer, baseball and more indoor events.
Farmers Market … This is actually a year-round event every Saturday. They have over 30 vendors there - farmers who bring their locally grown vegetables, fruits, eggs, etc. They also have baked items AND live music while you shop. How cool is that?
Here's a quick Google search for annual Folsom events.
Yes, we have one! Sutter Street comes alive during Friday and Saturday nights. There is the...
If you don't mind going for a little drive the Redhawk Casino is only 15 minutes up Hwy 50. If you are going there you've got to try their All-You-Can-Eat Seafood buffet on Friday nights... then relax a bit by losing a few pennies in the casino.
Whatever it is you’re looking to do and no matter what time during the year, there are a lot of activities going on around Folsom California. Just look for it. It won’t be hard to find something and you won’t be disappointed.
